Benjamin "Ben" Mauro is a concept designer and art director with numerous video game credits to his name. He contributed concept art to Halo: Infinite and Grey Goo, in addition to working on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Dino D-Day. Huxley is Mauro's decade-spanning passion project, a sci-fi setting he has nurtured alongside concept work on video games and films, including The Hobbit, Chappie, and Elysium.

The Oracle Sets up the Huxley Saga With Max's Origin Story

Mauro will soon be following up on his six-issue Huxley graphic novel series with a sci-fi prequel story titled Huxley: The Oracle. The novel rewinds to Fury-7 at the height of the Oracle Empire, following Max as his early Ronin years pull him into a dramatic plot that threatens the regime. "I'm thrilled to see The Oracle connect with fans, especially as it expands the Huxley universe," Mauro said in a statement to Game Rant. "The artwork and narrative really delve deeper into the world we've created, and I'm excited for readers to experience this new prequel story."

Mauro frames the story of his next sci-fi epic around identity and control. Huxley: The Oracle features a video game industry-adjacent artist roster, with over 100 full-color illustrations from Nikolas Gekko (Halo Infinite, Destiny 2), Steve Chinhsuan Wang (Gears 5), and Mauro himself. Syama Pedersen of Astartes fame contributed storyboards. The novel numbers 160 pages.
