'6 Underground': Dead Operators Are the Scariest Operators

Netflix keeps upping the ante with its original content. Now, it has recruited boom master Michael Bay ("13 Hours," "Transformers") to bring his widescreen magic to the service in a new movie with Ryan Reynolds. "6 Underground" is set to debut Dec. 13.

Bay and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick ("Deadpool" 1 & 2, "Zombieland" 1 & 2) have imagined a world where regular folks have acquired full operator skills. Six of them decide to fake their own deaths to form an anonymous squad with unlimited resources. They're going to take out the bad guys.

So: Batman times six, minus the cape. Reynolds is joined by Ben Hardy (drummer Roger Taylor in "Bohemian Rhapsody"), Mélanie Laurent ("Inglourious Basterds"), Corey Hawkins ("24: Legacy"), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo ("Sicario: Day of the Soldado") and Adria Arjona ("Good Omens"). Everyone has a very particular set of skills, and everyone wants to escape from an everyday life that's dragging them down.

With a rumored $150 million budget and shot on exotic locations around the world, this movie aims to be more than the typical Netflix cheapo production shot on a low-rent Georgia soundstage (looking at you, "Stranger Things" and "Ozark").

As usual, Ryan Reynolds declines to take things too seriously.

Expect explosions, wisecracks, guns, chases and more explosions. Hopefully, there will be some (but not too much) backstory that explains why these six were able to acquire their badass credentials.
