About Douglas Lindsay

Dr. Douglas R. Lindsay is the Deputy Editor for Military.com and is a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel. A leadership scientist and former military officer, he brings more than three decades of experience in leadership, psychology, and national defense to his editorial and writing work. At Military.com, he covers topics related to leadership, veteran transition, defense culture, and the evolving intersection between character, performance, and service.

Before joining Military.com, Dr. Lindsay served as a Professor, Deputy Department Head, and Research Center Director at the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he founded the Journal of Character & Leadership Development. As a Professor of Practice, he also created and directed Penn State’s Master of Professional Studies in the Psychology of Leadership program, one of the first of its kind designed for working professionals seeking to apply behavioral science to real-world leadership challenges.  Additionally, he founded a successful leadership consulting organization, where he spent the last decade working with numerous Fortune 500 companies.

A sought-after speaker, consultant, executive coach, and author of the book, In Your Moment: Mastering Your Leadership Thresholds, Dr. Lindsay’s work explores how people lead effectively under pressure and live with purpose beyond their careers in uniform. His articles and research have appeared in numerous academic, professional, and military publications.
