In-person career fairs are making their post-pandemic comeback, and it couldn't have come at a better time. American businesses are picking up steam, and there are a lot of companies out there who are looking to fill their open positions with military-connected employees.
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) is leading a free, two-day career fair for job-seekers at all levels and backgrounds Sept. 21-22, 2022, with one day for in-person attendees, and one day for virtual ones.
The in-person Veteran and Military Spouse Career Fair event will be held at the National Museum of the United States Army on Fort Belvoir Sept. 21. For those who aren't quite comfortable with large gatherings just yet or are simply too far away, there will be a virtual fair day Sept. 22.
This two-day job fair will be a place for in-person and virtual networking, along with on-site interviews with more than 40 different small business, Fortune 500 companies and governmental organizations, according to a FCEDA release.
Their goal is to fill 10,000 open jobs with companies like Adobe, Amazon and CACI, along with federal agencies like the FBI. These employers are especially interested in those with military experience and security clearances for roles in sectors like finance, information technology, healthcare and others.
Job seekers who are looking for help with the basics, which includes everything from sprucing up a resume to education services, can find that help at the Veteran and Military Spouse Career Fair too.
For businesses looking to fill such a large number of jobs with veterans, spouses and clearance holders, Northern Virginia is the place to go, with more than 80,000 veterans and veteran family members, living in the region. The 2022 career fair will be the latest of eight hosted by FCEDA since 2020, an event which attracts thousands of job seekers.
While the effort is meant to attract the best workers in the country to Fairfax County, all military-connected personnel nationwide are welcome to attend. Companies come to the FCEDA because the fair connects them with the veterans, transitioning service members and spouses from diverse backgrounds.
