A former Rockstar employee has leaked some early footage of in-development gameplay for the highly-anticipated GTA 6, potentially hinting at some new gameplay features. Few games have seen more excitement ahead of their launch than the sixth Grand Theft Auto game, being among the most talked-about upcoming titles in gaming. Grand Theft Auto 6's legacy has grown a life of its own, thanks to the long wait for the game, with the game's current November 2026 release date coming more than 12 years after the launch of GTA 5. However, fans have continued to anxiously await every new gameplay showcase.

Rockstar first shocked the world with the official reveal of Grand Theft Auto 6 in December 2023, with the trailer breaking YouTube records. GTA 6's announcement would confirm plenty of rumors that had swirled around the game, including Grand Theft Auto's first return to Vice City of the HD era and the first new game to feature the city since 2007's Vice City Stories. Rockstar has already teased several members of the game's main cast, including main characters Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval. Now, early gameplay from GTA 6 has surfaced online.

Rockstar Employee Leaks Early GTA 6 Gameplay

The demo reel for an unnamed former Rockstar employee includes some early gameplay for Grand Theft Auto 6. The footage shows off a generic player character using what appears to be a bike rental station, demonstrating animations for both mounting and dismounting from a bicycle. Another clip within the demo reel shows animations of what appears to be Grand Theft Auto 6 protagonist Lucia hopping off the roof of a truck and onto the ground, with animations suggesting that players may be able to ride in the bed of pickup trucks. The video was included as part of a demo reel that also showed other animations from Red Dead Redemption 2 and development footage of GTA 5 and Max Payne 3.

GTA 6's newest delay could cost Rockstar half a billion dollars.

The early GTA 6 footage heavily hints at some of the features that are likely coming to GTA 6 with its launch in 2026. Grand Theft Auto 6 looks to be bringing back the bicycle rental shops first featured in GTA 5, with players able to pay to secure a bike. The demo reel also hints at a potentially major upgrade to pickup trucks within GTA 6 and its online variant, seemingly able to carry more players by having some ride in the back carriage. Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently scheduled to release on November 19, 2026.

GTA 6 Looks to Be a Big Step Forward for the Series

GTA 6 is expected to come packed with a plethora of new gameplay mechanics to celebrate the franchise's return to Vice City. GTA 6's Vice City is rumored to boast deeper environments than past games, said to have far more interior spaces for players to explore. The developer is also expected to give players plenty to do within the Florida-inspired city, expanding on the mini-games offered in GTA 5 and adding new challenges like hunting and scuba diving. Grand Theft Auto 6 is even rumored to include a revamped cover system for its combat, likely taking inspiration from the mechanics used in Red Dead Redemption 2.
