Hosted by the American Veterans Center, the National Memorial Day Parade returns Monday, May 27, 2024, along Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C.
The parade, billed as the largest Memorial Day event in the nation, will kick off at 2 p.m. Eastern time. You may attend the event live or watch a live broadcast.
Beforehand, starting at 1 p.m., opening ceremonies will include musical performances.
This year’s parade will be led by surviving heroes of World War II to honor the upcoming 80th anniversary of D-Day on June 6, 2024. These heroes will include veterans of D-Day and more.
"In the company of esteemed veterans spanning WWII, the Vietnam and Korean Wars, and contemporary conflicts, these individuals epitomize the enduring American ethos of service and sacrifice, all joining in recognition of their fallen brothers and sisters in arms, on the U.S. military’s most sacred holiday,” American Veterans Center President Tim Holbert said in a statement.
The parade hosts are Anthony Anderson and Joe Buck.
After the parade, a special television program, “Our Sacred Honor: An American Salute,” will air on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW stations nationwide.
The parade, a moving timeline of American history, commemorates the spirit of service and sacrifice over our nearly 250 years. The event will feature historical reenactors, active-duty military personnel, marching bands, musical performers and veterans from World War II to the present.
The parade livestream may be viewed on YouTube here.
