The Hampton Roads area in Virginia, which includes Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Suffolk and Chesapeake, is home to several military installations. And it’s not hard to find local and regional businesses and attractions that offer military discounts in this area highly populated with military families.
Whether you live in Hampton Roads or you’re just visiting, the following are 20 military discounts to check into while you’re here. Don’t forget your military ID!
Keep in mind that MWR Information, Tickets and Tours (ITT) offices offer discounted tickets to parks, museums, movie theaters, and concerts. So before purchasing tickets either online or on location to local attractions, take the time to call or visit an ITT office at any base in the area (like NAS Oceana, Naval Station Norfolk, and JEB Little Creek-Fort Story).
1. Adventure Park at Virginia Aquarium
The Adventure Park at Virginia Aquarium in Virginia Beach is an aerial forest park that provides hours of fun climbing and zip-lining through trees. They offer a 15% military discount on admission for active-duty military.
Through the SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment program “Waves of Honor,” military members can receive one complimentary admission per year to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. This discount includes active-duty military, activated or drilling Reservists, and National Guardsmen, as well as three direct dependents.
Active-duty military, Reservists, National Guard personnel, retired military and veterans receive complimentary admission once annually for themselves and up to three direct dependents on either Memorial Day weekend or Veterans Day weekend. They also qualify for 25% off the purchase of Single-day admission tickets for themselves and up to three direct dependents or 25% off the purchase of an Annual Passes for themselves and up to three direct dependents.
The Great Wolf Lodge, a huge indoor water park in Williamsburg, offers a discount to military families through their Howling Heroes program.

9. Nauticus
At the Nauticus science center and museum in Norfolk, active-duty military receive $3 off of general admission with a valid ID. Spend a day learning through exhibits and activities at this interactive science and technology center that is home of the Battleship Wisconsin and the Hampton Roads Naval Museum.
The Norfolk Botanical Garden is a Virginia Historic Landmark filled with beautiful themed gardens, 95 species of birds, and 30 kinds of butterflies. They offer $2 off general admission tickets with a military ID.
Don’t miss their holiday Garden of Lights on display from Thanksgiving night through December 31. They typically offer military discounts. (Check their website around the holidays.)
11. Norfolk International Airport
The airlines serving Norfolk International Airport offer discounts subject to availability to active-duty military travelers and their dependents. Active-duty military with ID receive a 20% discount in all airport retail shops courtesy of Hudson News and a 15% discount on food and non-alcoholic beverages in all airport restaurants.
Norfolk Premium Outlets supports service members and their families by offering special discounts at participating retailers. Look for the patriotic star on their windows.
Discounted military vouchers for Norfolk Tides baseball games can be purchased at select local MWR/ITT ticket offices, such as NAS Oceana ITT & Cruise Office and Naval Station Norfolk. Vouchers must be redeemed for a game ticket at the Norfolk Tides Box Office prior or the day of the game you attend. To avoid waiting in line, redeeming vouchers in advance is highly encouraged. Play ball!
Ocean Breeze in Virginia Beach, which is open from mid-May through early September, is a family-friendly water park that features over 30 rides, slides and attractions. Enjoy free parking, free sunscreen and free inner tubes. They offer a military discount off daily admission tickets. Local MWR offices may also offer discounts.
15. Topgolf
Topgolf in Virginia Beach, where players hit microchipped golf balls at targets on an outfield, combines golf and entertainment. With their Heroes Program, active-duty military and veterans get 10% off Topgolf game play, a 20% discount on select monthly memberships and a 10% discount on event game play and/or room rental when you book an event with a Topgolf Sales Associate.
16. Virginia Air and Space Center
The Virginia Air and Space Center, located in Hampton, Virginia, is the visitor center for NASA Langley Research Center and Langley Air Force Base. It features interactive aviation exhibits spanning 100 years of flight, over 30 historic aircraft, a hands-on space exploration gallery, space flight artifacts, and more. They offer military discounts on admission.
The Virginia Aquarium offers active and retired military families a $2 discount on adult and youth rates with a valid military ID. Online ticket reservations are strongly recommended.
Grab your golf clubs and head over to Virginia Beach National to use your military discount. In season (April through October), military green fee rates are $52 on weekdays and $62 on weekends. Out of season (November through March), military rates are $39 on weekdays and $49 on the weekends.
At the Virginia Living Museum in Newport News, active-duty military personnel and veterans get $1 off admission with a valid ID. Spend a day learning about 250 living species native to Virginia through discovery centers and interactive exhibits. While you’re there, try to catch a planetarium show and stop by the observatory.
20. Virginia Zoo
The Virginia Zoo in Norfolk offers $2 off general admission for active-duty, veterans, and dependent family members every day with a valid ID.
