Here are the stories generating the most comments this week on Military.com, along with a sampling of responses edited for clarity:

US Marines Move into Syria with Howitzers

  • Bad move by the U.S. We should get out completely, not start to get in again. Putting our troops in harm's way for what? Didn't Trump promise no troops on the ground? -- Joe0230
  • Mosul must be liberated. The horrors of ISIS within this city is akin to Saddam Hussein's rule of Iraq. The only thing worse is Assad's rule in Syria backed by the Russians. Chemical weapons like chlorine and mustard gas are being used against his own people. -- rover411

Marine Corps' Nude-Photo-Sharing Scandal Worse Than First Realized

  • It's 2017. Males and females in the Marines are equal. Sleep together, fight together, eat together, shower together. What's the problem? Problem: old people bringing their 20th century values into the 21st century. Get over it. -- DeBee Corley
  • What a bunch of sick bastards and I am including a large percentage of those posting here. There is plenty of porn online and they still sell magazines for any of you to ugly or disgusting (apparently most of you) to actually see a woman naked without paying for it. Military or not, no one has the right to film anyone of any sex without their consent, which seems to be the majority of what this is. -- 16668096

VA to Provide Mental Health Care to Vets with 'Bad Paper' Discharges

  • Sadly recruiters get bonuses and promotions for the number of people they sign up. They ignore medical issues, mental illness problems, legal problems, low test scores. This has gone on for a very long time. I would not want the guy next to me with an M4 carbine to be hearing voices other than the first sergeant's voice. -- rover411
  • Giving psychiatric treatment to bad conduct discharge veterans will only justify the VA mental health system reporting veterans to the FBI as too mentally ill to own guns. Once you are reported to the FBI as too mentally ill to own guns by the VA, there is no process to get your gun rights back. -- DANIEL ORLANDI

No 'Incompetence' or 'Bad Judgment' in Yemen Raid, Probe Finds

  • It may be that the seriousness of the charges requires an in-depth investigation. The fact that the military found nothing wrong is further indication that a real investigation needs to be conducted by the proper congressmen/women. -- gunbunny476
  • I doubt that I will understand this totally bizarre notion that people have about people dying in war. People die in war. Do they think that war can exist without death? Same with casualties. People get wounded. Innocent civilians get wounded and die. Deal with it! -- spurlockda

3rd Woman to Attempt Air Force Battlefield Training

  • I think that women have the same rights as male warriors to get up close and personal with the enemy and get their heads blown clean off, step on an [improvised explosive device] and get vaporized or be maimed for life. -- Bill Booker
  • OK, I believe that women can and will serve well in combat alongside men, as long as the standards are the same for both males and females, there should not be any issues. -- R_Matta

North Korea Could Have Missile to Strike US in 'Next Few Years'

  • Launch success rate for North Korea is pretty poor, no proven re-entry vehicle, inaccurate guidance systems, etc. I doubt we have much to worry about. -- Johnnypaycheck
  • North Korea a blight on the world, they can't feed their own population so they imprison them forcing slave labor growing marijuana because it sells for cash. They export nuclear information to Syria, Iran and try to blackmail the West for food and anything they can get. A B1 strike could settle the matter overnight. -- rover411
