Do you have a great story about a volunteer or person who is improving the lives of veterans? Or a veteran giving his or her time to make your community stronger?
If so, you should share their story with the world in the AARP Create the Good Honoring Heroes Contest, entering them to win a grand prize of $1,000. A matching donation will also be made to the charity or Department of Veterans Affairs medical center of their choice.
Two runners up will also receive prizes worth $500 and a matching $500 donation to a charity or VA medical center of their choice.
To enter, submit a 500-word or shorter story, along with a photo, about a volunteer or veteran who is doing good in their community or who has made a difference in your life. The contest is open to the public, and neither submitters nor those featured in story submissions need to be AARP members. The deadline for entries is Dec. 31, 2020.
Your story should include details on the impact a veteran, or volunteer supporting veteran initiatives has made in your community; or should be your true story about the impact a veteran or volunteer supporting veteran initiatives has had on your life.
Winners will be announced on or about February 15, 2021.
