About Kevin Damask 

Kevin Damask is a content writer for Military.com who writes articles covering human interest stories about veterans. Kevin also interviews veterans and writes Q&A and profile pieces reflecting on their military experiences and life after service. 

Prior to joining Military.com in September 2025, Kevin worked a variety of roles in journalism, including almost two decades as a sportswriter, news reporter and editor in the newspaper industry. During his time in newspapers, Kevin earned nine Wisconsin Newspaper Association Awards for excellence in journalism, including several for feature stories and enterprise reporting. 

In 2023, Kevin published his first book, “COLD, The Unsolved Murders of Seven Young Women,” covering several unsolved homicides in Madison, Wisconsin. 

From 2022-2025, Kevin served as a writer-editor for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, interviewing and writing first-person stories about veterans for the My Life, My Story program. He interviewed nearly 200 veterans, documenting their stories during his time at VA. 

Kevin enjoys reading, writing, watching sports, playing basketball and working up a sweat on the rowing machine at the gym. He lives with his wife, Jenny, and son, Jackson, in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Growing up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin, Kevin earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 2006.
