Family Hears Son's Heartbeat in War Vet

    ROCHESTER, Minn. — In 2001, veteran Tom Meeks was diagnosed with a rare heart condition called amyloidosis. He was told he would die unless he had a transplant, and he waited nearly three years for the procedure. Matthew Heisler, 21, died in a house fire. He’s signed up to be an organ donor when he was 16, and Meeks was chosen to receive his heart.
