Shooting Blindly is not Wasting Ammo
Interesting video about WWII infantry training and where they went wrong. The US trainers' view was that shooting blindly at the enemy was a waste of ammunition, however when the troops arrived on the front line the veterans corrected them stating they needed to generate a volume of fire against the objective in order to manuever against it.
