Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group Checks into 5th Fleet

The Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group wrapped up operations in the Western Pacific and reported for duty in the US 5th Fleet Area Of Responsibility (Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Arabian Sea and parts of the Indian Ocean). The Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group consists of USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) with embarked Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 1, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17 and Destroyer Squadron 1. Escorting & Protecting the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) Nuclear Aircraft Carrier includes the USS Bunker Hill (CG 52) Guided Missile Cruiser, USS Gridley (DDG 101) Guided Missile Destroyer, USS Sterett (DDG 104) Guided Missile Destroyer, USS Dewey (DDG 105) Guided Missile Destroyer and elements of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit 3.
