B-52 Stratofortress Drops 2,000 Pound Sea Mine

    Airmen from the 96th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, load a Quickstrike-Extended Range naval sea mine onto a B-52 Stratofortress on Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, as part of exercise Valiant Shield 18, Sept. 16, 2018. The demonstration grouped the Air Force’s B-52 bombers of the 96th Bomb Squadron with the Navy’s P-8A Poseidon to deploy and assess the updated shallow-water mine technology. Valiant Shield is a biennial; U.S. only; field training exercise with a focus on integration of joint training among U.S. forces.
