The U.S. Department of Transportation's Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) would like to recognize the nation's veteran business owners and service members within the transportation industry.
OSDBU is proud to serve veterans, working year-round to help them do business with the DoT and expand their opportunities within the industry all across the country.
Just last week, OSDBU took part in National Veterans Small Business Week, participating in several events through its network of Small Business Transportation Resource Centers (SBTRC). The series of events gave SBTRCs the opportunity to meet face to face with participating veteran business owners to discuss the DoT's small business programs and available transportation-related contracting opportunities in their regions.
Our veterans returning from service have the skills, discipline and leadership necessary to begin and operate successful businesses. As small business owners, veteran entrepreneurs can pursue their passion to further serve our country by creating jobs, spurring economic growth and improving our infrastructure.
OSDBU works alongside the U.S. Small Business Administration to help provide America's more than 21 million veterans -- and the more than 250,000 U.S. service members transitioning from the military each year -- the resources, tools and opportunities to start and sustain businesses within the transportation industry.
And we look forward to continuing to serve those who have served our nation.
Brandon Neal is director of the U.S. Transportation Department's Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization.
