A survey found more than one-third of female Fort Hood soldiers who took the survey reported experiencing sexual harassment.

Pvt. Mejhor Morta's body was found in the vicinity of Stillhouse lake, southeast of Fort Hood.

The Army originally classified him as AWOL, though his name no longer appears on the Army's list.

The Army will soon hire four civilian consultants to lead a review of the command climate at Fort Hood, Texas.

The family of Army Spc. Vanessa Guillen said they are determined to make sure that other soldiers never face a similar fate.

In addition to the base closure, the petition calls for an end to the culture of sexual assault and sexual harassment.

"She is part of our history and she will not be forgotten," Maj. Gen. Scott Efflandt said.

Army officials said there is no evidence that a soldier who killed himself to avoid capture sexually assaulted Guillen.

"How could this happen while she was on duty?" Lupe Guillen, the soldier's sister, asked.

The move came hours after skeletal remains found in nearby Killeen were identified as another soldier.
