The non-profit Fisher House Foundation has scholarships that were created to recognize the contributions and sacrifices military families make to ensure the readiness of the fighting force and to celebrate the role of the commissary in the military community. More than 8 million dollars in scholarships have been awarded to military children during the past decade.
These scholarships are for the sons and daughters of active duty members from all services, reserve/guard, or retired military personnel (including survivors of deceased members). Eligibility is open to unmarried dependents under the age of 23 who are currently enrolled in the defense enrollment eligibility reporting system (deers) data base and have a current id card.
Applicants must:
a. Obtain, complete and submit the "Scholarships for Military Children Program Scholarship Application",
b. Provide a copy of transcript or copy of grades,
c. Provide a short essay (not to exceed 500 words) and,
d. Provide a letter of recommendation.

Spouse Scholarships
The National Military Family Association offers the Joanne Holbrook Patton Military Spouse Scholarships, which are awarded to spouses of all Uniformed Services members:

The scholarship funds may be used for tuition, fees, and school room and board for:

A valid Military ID is a requirement to apply for the program. Scholarship selection is based on completion of some survey questions, short-answer questions, and an essay question. For more details, see the NMFA website.
