Jeep Recalls Over 120,000 Vehicles For Trim That Can Fall Off

Jeep owners may have parts of their doors, particularly the window trim, detach from their vehicles. That might not sound like a huge deal, given that models like the Wrangler and Gladiator have removable doors that are designed to come off, but this issue impacts the Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Jeep parent company FCA US (owned by Stellantis) issued a recall on September 25, 2025, for 123,396 impacted vehicles.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer vehicles. The quarter trim on the driver and passenger windows may not have been properly secured, which can allow it to detach.

– National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)

The recall includes 2022 through 2024 model year Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles, built from March 8, 2021, to February 29, 2024. Jeep says 91,202 Wagoneers are impacted, while 32,194 Grand Wagoneers are involved. This represents approximately 9% of Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer production during that period.

If the window trim detaches, it could fly off the vehicle and potentially create a hazard for other road users and increase the risk of a crash. The recall includes a list of part numbers, which all relate to the quarter window on the left and right side; no issues have been found with any other windows or trim pieces. Obviously, things coming off that aren't supposed to are bad. Having them come off while driving? That's even worse. According to the NHTSA:

"The remedy is currently under development. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed November 14, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 88C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning October 2, 2025."

Once a fix has been found, it should be covered at no cost to owners. Jeep has not warned owners to stop driving their vehicles while a solution is developed. Presently, Jeep is not aware of any accidents or injuries resulting from this problem. However, documents note 1,710 warranty claims, 40 service records, and one field report all potentially related to trim coming off.

This Wagoneer recall is far from Jeep's first in 2025, after Stellantis led the industry in recalls back in 2024. Here are some recent recalls from the Jeep brand:

While Stellantis has posted its fair share of recalls, no company has come close to Ford. Ford recently posted its 105th recall of 2025, breaking the record for the most in a single calendar year with several months left to go. That recall was for a steering column that could become disconnected, which sounds more dangerous than window trim falling off.
