According to the data, the No. 1 vehicle driven by USAA military members is the Ford F-150. Whether they helped protect our land, sea or air, our military members favor Ford's workhorse pickup for its practicality and versatility.
The Toyota Camry and Honda Accord run neck and neck in the top five of each division, placing these two family sedans solidly at second and third across all five forces.
Beyond this near tie, the Honda Civic, Toyota Prius, Chevrolet Silverado, Dodge Ram 1500, Nissan Altima, Ford Fusion and Honda CR-V make up the remaining top 10 vehicles among our members. Many of these models place high — but in different locations of the top 10 — for each individual branch.
"Whether their needs run to hardworking pickup trucks, functional utility vehicles or more efficient sedans, our members across the different branches show some distinct preferences in their automotive tastes," he says.
Safety Tops the List
"The data shows how our members across the military branches may differ, but it also shows that they definitely agree on one thing: safety," Harrison says.
The top five vehicles among our members across all branches were recognized in 2013 by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety as Top Safety Picks. The organization releases its Top Safety Picks each year.Check current ratings and see past winners, too.
