Defense officials are warning service members that starting June 1, imminent danger pay will end for the 44K troops deploying to certain USCENTCOM areas of operations. The change will affect those deployed to Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. This also means that service members who deploy on 365-day deployments or PCS to these nine after June 1 will no longer be eligible for the R&R program. USCENTCOM is developing options on how to best transition to an ordinary leave program.
