CHEYENNE, Wyo. — An active-duty airman assigned to the 90th Missile Wing was found dead the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 8, at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, according to a base statement.

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations and base leadership have opened an investigation. There is no known threat to the surrounding community, and the airman’s name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

“It is with deep sadness that we face the loss of a member of the Mighty Ninety, and on behalf of our entire team, I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the lost individual,” said Col. Terrance Holmes, 90th Missile Wing commander. “Please know that the 90th Missile Wing provides several support services to families and airmen in need. I implore anyone needing support during this sensitive time, or any other time, to seek help immediately.”

This latest death comes amid a string of violent incidents involving personnel assigned to the Wyoming base in the past few months. In March, a target-practice accident in Platte County left a Verizon cell tower worker wounded after a stray bullet struck him. Local authorities tied the shooting to Air Force personnel stationed at Warren, calling it an off-duty accident during recreational shooting.

In July 2025, Airman Brayden Lovan, 21, was killed on base in a firearm discharge incident. The base confirmed the weapon involved was a Sig Sauer M18, and at the time, placed the pistol on a temporary stand-down while safety inspections were conducted.

In early August, authorities announced the arrest of an airman in connection with Lovan’s death, charging him with involuntary manslaughter, false official statement, and obstruction of justice.

On August 16, Senior Airman Joshua Aragon — a security forces specialist assigned to the 790th Missile Security Forces Squadron — was shot and killed in a Cheyenne apartment. Investigators say another airman, Jadan Orr, picked up an AK-47 and fired through a bedroom wall into the living room, striking Aragon in the torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene; Orr was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter.

On Sept. 30, Airman 1st Class Marcus E. Jackson, 20, who was assigned to F.E. Warren, was found dead at an off-base residence in Fort Collins, Colorado. According to the Coloradoan, the Larimer County coroner ruled the case a murder-suicide after determining that Jackson shot and killed 18-year-old Alyssa Reardon before taking his own life. The 90th Missile Wing confirmed Jackson’s death and said it is cooperating with the AFOSI and local authorities.

Taken together, these confirmed cases amount to four servicemember deaths since July, along with one civilian killed and another injured in incidents tied to base personnel this year. The base confirmed the Oct. 8 death and said more information will be released as it becomes available.
