There are a handful of military bases near San Antonio, Texas, including Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base and Randolph Air Force Base. Whether you're stationed in the area or simply visiting, there are lots of fun family-friendly things to do that include military discounts.
Keep in mind that some of the following discounts require advanced online booking, while others require a military ID when arriving in person so plan ahead!
1. SeaWorld San Antonio
SeaWorld is filled with amazing animals, shows, rides and exhibits, and the SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment salutes those who serve through their "Waves of Honor" program. SeaWorld San Antonio offers active-duty military members one complimentary admission per year plus three dependents.
2. Schlitterbahn
Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort in New Braunfels, Texas is located between San Antonio and Austin. The park has over seventy acres of attractions, river adventures, kids’ water playgrounds, and beautiful spots to relax and share a picnic. You can get military discounts on tickets online, so plan ahead.
3. McNay Art Museum
The McNay Art Museum was founded in 1954 in San Antonio and is the first modern art museum in Texas. The collection has expanded to nearly 20,000 works including Medieval and Renaissance art and 19th- through 21st- century European and American paintings, sculptures and photographs. The museum offers free admission for active-duty military, veterans and their families.
4. Morgan's Wonderland
Morgan's Wonderland offers a $6 military discount for admission tickets. Park attractions include the Sensory Village, Butterfly Playground, the Wonderland Express and much more. Their operating seasons run from March through December.
5. San Antonio Botanical Garden
The San Antonio Botanical Garden, which is open year-round, has 38 acres to explore and has many seasonal events, exhibits, classes and camps. Active-duty military can save $2 off admission tickets.
6. The DoSeum
The DoSeum is a museum for children from birth to age 10 that provides engaging hands-on experiences with a series of three, two-story exhibit halls totaling 65,000 square feet. Head over with your little one and get a $4 discount for active and retired military and their family members.
7. Tower of the Americas
See a different view of the city at the 750-foot-tall Tower of the Americas in downtown San Antonio. Visit the Observation Deck and enjoy a meal at the revolving Chart House Restaurant. The Tower of the Americas offers a military discount of $3.50 off admission.
8. Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch
Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch has 450 acres that's home to over 500 animals. Military personnel get a discount off general admission with a valid ID.
9. Hard Rock San Antonio
Hard Rock Cafes are known to be big supporters of the military. Head on over to the San Antonio restaurant to use their military discount.
10. Six Flags Fiesta Texas
At Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, you can get your heart pumping on the roller coasters, cool off at White Water Bay or relax at an entertaining show. All active and retired military get a discount on admission after online verification.
11. Witte Museum
The Witte Museum promotes learning through innovative exhibitions, programs, and collections in natural history, science and South Texas heritage. They're open year-round and offer a military discount on admission with a valid ID.
