Soldiers from 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado, will soon deploy to Afghanistan and then join the NATO Kosovo Mission Force this spring.
Elements of the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team will travel to Afghanistan over the next several weeks to conduct advise-and-assist operations for Operations Resolute Support and Freedom's Sentinel, according to a recent Fort Carson press release.
"The 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the 4th Infantry Division has a proud history in support of combat operations in Afghanistan," Col. David Zinn, commander of 2nd IBCT, said in the press release.
Later this spring, the 2nd IBCT's 3rd Battalion, 61st Cavalry Regiment, will deploy to Kosovo to take part in Operation Joint Guardian, according to the release.
The 3-61 will replace the 3rd Battalion, 319th Field Artillery Regiment, of the 82nd Airborne Division's 3rd Brigade Combat Team as part of a regular rotation to support the Kosovo Forces for Multinational Battle Group-East, the release states.
"The soldiers of the 3rd Bn., 61st Cav. Reg., 2IBCT, have worked and trained hard in preparation for our upcoming Kosovo deployment," said Lt. Col. Donald Braman, 3rd Battalion commander. "I am proud of our soldiers, and we are ready to support the NATO Kosovo Force Mission."
