If you are being transferred overseas one of your main concerns may be your family's dental care. Fortunately the Tricare Dental Program (TDP) is offered outside of the continental United States (OCONUS).

The OCONUS service area includes all other countries, island masses and territorial waters not in the continental United States (CONUS) service area (the 50 United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands). The OCONUS service area is categorized into non-remote and remote locations.

Finding a Dentist Overseas

If you live in the OCONUS service area, you can get care from any licensed dentist for dental and orthodontic care. However, you might find it easier to see a Tricare OCONUS Preferred Dentist (TOPD). A TOPD in the OCONUS service area will:

  1. File claims for you
  2. Charge you only the cost-share at the time of service
  3. Complete and submit predeterminations for you before you get complex or costly treatment

You don’t have to see a TOPD, but when you don’t you may have to pay for services before you get care and submit your own claims.

A directory of Tricare OCONUS Preferred Dentists, including orthodontists, is available on the United Concordia website

OCONUS Dental Claims

Download the Dental Claim Submission Document (OCONUS Service Area) and submit the form and supporting documentation to United Concordia

A separate claim document must be submitted every time you or a family member gets treatment.
