Over 300 companies, large and small, have already taken the opportunity to demonstrate their support for the troops through this important program, which is free to both consumers and the businesses that support them.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Following World War II, a grateful nation wanted to show its appreciation and support for America’s servicemembers and veterans by providing special discounts and savings as a way of saying thank you. Recent world and national events have rekindled that spirit, and it is rapidly gaining momentum through the Military.com Discounts Center.

Military.com (www.military.com), the largest online destination for the military community, today announced over 300 businesses, large and small, including well-known American companies such as American Airlines, United Airlines, Advance Auto Parts, Radisson, 1-800-Flowers, Apple Computers and even the Baseball Hall of Fame; plus, smaller businesses including Ace of Hearts Ranch, in Florida, Bremerton’s City Thai Restaurant, Savannah’s Midtown Bakery and Ray Deeter Tire Town in San Pedro, Calif., with more posting every day.

“We are grateful for the service of America’s military members, and we wanted to acknowledge their dedication and sacrifice in the defense of freedom,” said Phil Akin, Vice President of Marketing for Advance Auto Parts. “We thought a military discount would be a great way of letting members of the armed forces and their families know we are so very proud and thankful for what they do for us every day!”

Discounts can be offered for online purchases, printable coupons or in-store discounts, and can include holiday specials or savings on specific events. Discounts can be structured in any combination for active duty, reservists, Guard members, veterans and family members, who often keep the household running while the servicemember is deployed.

Discounts are presented in a user-friendly database that is searchable by both category and geography. Categories include a wide array of entertainment, goods and services including, airlines and rental cars, hotels and accommodations, theme parks, apparel, flowers and gifts, electronics, sports, and many more. Companies can list their discounts free through a simple, online form.

Over 30 million Americans have military affinity: active duty, reservists, Guard members, retirees, veterans and family members. This is a $2 trillion market, with an average household income of $60,000. Best of all, this group is notable for maintaining lifelong brand loyalty, particularly toward businesses that are viewed as patriotic and supportive of the military.

“We are pleased to be able to provide a place for American businesses to show their support of those that have answered the call to serve,” said Christopher Michel, Founder and CEO of Military.com. “We are amazed by the tremendous response we have received to this unique program. The value they provide to servicemembers, veterans and their families is tremendous.”

Military.com is over three million members strong. Over 20 percent of servicemembers have joined Military.com, and many more utilize the site’s online resources each month. Military.com services are free and designed to help members make the most of military experience, expand access to benefits, get career advice, find transition support and stay connected for life to friends or mentors from the service. Military.com strives to offer unsurpassed services to a community that deserves nothing less.
